This was an enjoyable quick read. I have read and reread most of her books over the years. I was one of those people that kept saying I want her books on kindle so I could get rid of my old books. I am glad they finally put most of them there. There are still a few that are not, but hopefully will be soon. Tennessee Moon is my favorite of hers, as Matt is a really great guy.Anyway if you are one of those people that wants a perfect book, think your character have to really be developed, and like less fighting between the two,
these her books are not for you. I like her books as they are light and keep me interested. Cord is mostly a good guy. It is hard to see that, as he is extremely hard on Jonty in the beginning, and he has a quick temper. Plus he is really jealous of Jim LaTour. Jonty gives it back to him most of the time. I like the fact that Johnny Lightfoot is given someone, and if you read Sage, Jim LaTour gets someone too. My only complaint is that this is one of her books that kind of ends abruptly as far as Jonty and Cord are concerned. She could have spent a little more on them at the end.

Devil in Spurs edition by Norah Hess Romance eBooks Reviews
Characters are well detailed though and mostly likable though sometimes their pride makes their actions brutal. The story drags in a lot of places. I found myself wondering when their love was going to overcome their stupid quarreling.
I read this story when I was an older teen and have read it 5 more times sence then. I don't know what it is about this book, but it is by far my favorite. I read mostly Dean Koontz........yah, go figure. Love this novel. I bought it because my paperback was falling apart.
Boy can this woman write a great book. Kept me reading from start to finish. I was unable to put it down. The characters are real and believable, whilst the story line flows along. It's also great that the story finishes and you don't need to read a sequel to have an ending.
All Norah Hess's books are great, they are funny, light reading, happy endings and romantic with good looking cowboys and beautiful heroines..Devil in Spurs is a little different from the majority of NH books because our leading lady has to pretend to be a boy until 18yrs.old. Jane aka Jonty Rand is raised by her grand mother who works in a pleasure house as a cook ..her mother died giving birth to her and her father Jim la Tour is an oulaw who is always on the run. As Jonty grows up she meets Cord McBain who eventually becomes her guardian thinking she is a boy.
Cord is besides himself because he seem's attracted to Jonty and therefore makes her life a misery. Jonty likewise has mixed emotions about Cord, but is slowly falling in love with him and would love nothing more then to shed her male disguise.
Now the fun begins on the ranch with other problems namely their cooks daughter Tina who is constantly after Cord.
You will also enjoy other characters in this book starting with a dog named Wolf ,Johnny Lightfoot, and a villian named Paunch. Happy reading, and enjoy one of many Norah Hess books.
Good news, there were a few NH books out on but now all her books are being released. Thanks .
This book was longer than usual but totally held my interest with each and every page! It definitely deserved my 5-Star rating.... I will be looking for more books by Nora Hess!
Good writing Liked heroine disguised as boy hero guardian tries to make a man of her just didn't like frustrating misunderstanding that separates H & h for 40 % of story Prefer brief separation, 1- 2 chapters at most Although the coming back together was nice
This was a very intense book that will take you through quite a few different emotions. In the beginning it had me in tears a couple of times and held my interest to the very end. Few authors have the ability to give such depth and personality to more than the lead characters. In this book there are so many personalities you will come to feel like you know a like not fairytale perfect, they were characters that felt real as you read the story. I really hated to have this book end. Norah Hess is truly a very gifted writer and this without a doubt is one of the most captivating books I have read in a very long time.
