Reading some of the reviews for this book, I was sure that I wouldn't even make it through. Boy, was I wrong! I absolutely loved this book. I promise it's okay for a book to not have a happy ending, because life doesn't always have happy endings. From other things I've read, this story is pretty similar to the types of things that happened out west during the Gold Rush. It was a rough time, but physically and emotionally, for a lot of men, and to see some of that vulnerability from the point of view as a man such as Hunter was brilliant. I wasn't as emotional with this book as I'd been while reading some of Mr. Evans' other works, but I would recommend this to anyone who's interested. You don't even have to really read The Locket before you read this book, because the fact that Bethel was Esther's home at one time really isn't so important that not knowing it would impair your ability to grasp the book.

Very good...everything this author puts out there is over the top
Another great read by Richard Paul Evans. I was drawn into the story and thought about it even when I wasn't reading it. It was a great story of struggle and finding meaning in life. I really enjoyed this book.
The book is a very good story. Realistic and in good taste. There where no negative events in the purchase of the book. The book arrived one day ahead of schedule in excellent condition. This is the 8th of the Richard Paul Evens that I have read. Great job guys.
This beautiful novel about love and hope took me only a day and a half to read. The frontier setting was exciting and drew my attention further because it followed the gold rush adventures of so many hopeful families. It continually gave me hope for a positive ending. This is one of my favorites by Richard Paul Evans.

I like reading Richard Paul Evans. He Writes Well And Is Able To Hold My Interests Throughout The Book. I 've recommended his books to several people that live in the same complex as me, all have shared my love of his books.
